Media player output to a touchscreen is calibrated to landscape orientation by default. When the screen is mounted in portrait orientation, and the content from the player is rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise to match, the player touch config must be re-calibrated to portrait orientation as well.

New media players (firmware 8.14+) can be calibrated by following Method 1, steps outlined below.

Older, legacy media players (e.g. firmware 8.9) can be calibrated by following the Method 2, steps outlined below.

If a new media player is calibrated by following Method 2, this "breaks" the ability to use Method 1 later on (If a player is calibrated via Method 2, from that point on can only be calibrated via Method 2)

Method 1

1. Power on the player and connect to EnGage.

2. In EnGage, navigate to the site.

3. Click on the Control panel

4. Click on the “Calibrate” button and the calibration will begin (You need to be standing in front of the screen for the next steps)

5. The player will restart and you will see the screen as shown in the following photo. Re-seat the USB cable to the media player (The USB cable needs to be plugged in after the player starts in order to detect touch. If the USB is connected before the player starts, it will not detect your touch and you will be unable to complete the calibration)

6. Touch the screen 3 times.

7. You will see a screen with a red crosshair in one corner, as shown in the following photo. Touch the center of the crosshair. Next you will see a new crosshair in a different corner of the screen. Continue touching each crosshair until all 4 corners have been touched (If you miss a touch it will restart at crosshair #1)

8. You will see the screen as shown in the following photo. Tap the screen 1 more time to finish the calibration. The player will restart on its own.

Method 2

1. Ensure that a USB cable is connected between the player and screen.

2. Power on the player and connect to EnGage.

3. In EnGage, navigate to the site.

4. Navigate to the player by clicking on the assigned player name (This link takes you to the player in the Players tab)

5. At the player Firmware assignment, click Assign and select the patch: touch_generic_calib_module-1737.ngrt 8.9.1.GA, then click OK.

6. Click on the “Publish” button and the calibration will begin (Be at the screen for the next steps)

7. The player will restart and you will see a screen with a red crosshair in one corner, as shown in the following photo. Touch the center of the crosshair. Next you will see a new crosshair in a different corner of the screen. Continue touching each crosshair until all 4 corners have been touched (If you miss a touch it will restart at crosshair #1)

A video showing this step is attached to this article.

8. After you touch all four points, the player will restart on its own and the portrait calibration will have taken effect.
