The "Messages" tab has a variety of different features and uses for users, of which can be seen below. Enter the "Messages" tab to begin.


The messages tab enables OnSite users to manage their messages within each Site Group. Messages are created from templates, which are made available by the Network Operator. Switching Site Groups will display the message in that Site Group.

The Messages tab will only be visible to users that have been assigned the OnSite Message user role.


Site Selector

Messages are filtered by Sites/ Site Groups. Click on the purple box in the header to view the Sites you have access to.


Select the Site/ Site Group you want to view the messages for. Users who don't have access to certain Sites will not be able to access the Messages within them.


Zone Tag Selector

In addition to Sites, messages are also filtered by the zone tags applied. Every message has to have at least one zone tag assigned. Click on the boxes of zone tags to change between them. The dark grey box is the zone tag currently selected.


Editing Scheduled Messages

To edit a message that has already been scheduled and published, start by locating the message in the "Messages" tab. Once you have selected your message, click the edit button in the toolbar.


Make the desired changes to your message and click the save and close button to save your message changes.


Now that your message has been changed, the last step is to publish the message so that your changes will be sent to your sites/screens. Click on the "Schedule" tab. If your message is already in your schedule, you only need to re-publish your schedule by clicking the save and publish button.


Now that you've published your changes, your message should appear on your screen shortly, depending on the playback constraints.


Message Preview 

To preview a message, select it beforehand then select the preview button in the toolbar.


A window will popup, the message in the window can either be closed, replayed, or edited.


Moving Messages

To move a message select it and then push the move button. Messages can be moved in/out of folders and organized.


Duplicating Messages

To duplicate an existing message, click the "Duplicate" button from the toolbar, when a message is selected.


When a message is copied, the name of the original message is used with the addition of "Copy" to the end of the new message name with a subsequent date and time added afterwards. Duplicates will have the ending of "Copy [Date] [Time] [Time Zone]" for example: " Copy 06-27-2025 1-28-30 PM GMT-04-00."


Exporting Messages

To export a messages select the desired message, then click the export button. The message will the now be downloaded as a Zip file.


Deleting Messages

To delete a message select it then push the trash can icon. Folders can also be deleted, but only if they're empty.


A popup will then appear confirming the deletion of the message. If the message currently is in use it cannot be deleted.


Creating a Message

Creating a Folder

To create a folder select the add folder button in the toolbar.


A popup will be presented where the folder name can be added, once satisfied click the "Save" button to confirm.


Importing Messages

When importing messages the proper file and extension must be used. To see an example of what should be used, look at the Zip file downloaded when exporting a message.

Message Storage

All messages are stored on a Site or Site Group in a similar way that files are stored in folders. Anyone who has access to the Site or Site Group will have access to the messages within that Site or Site Group. When a message is created, it will be created in the currently selected Site or Site Group. 

Messages are stored in a "Zone" folder, which is stored within a Site Group. Within the Zone folder will be folders or messages.
