If your screen requires message approval, messages must be submitted for approval before they can be scheduled and shown on the screen(s). Ask your network operator if your messages require approval before they are visible on the screen(s). If message approval is required, read through this section on how message approval works. If message approval is not required, this section can be skipped.
Once a message is created, select the message and click the Submit for Approval" button. The assigned message approver, as set up by the network operator, will then be notified that a message was submitted for approval.
You have the option to type in a message, and then click the "Submit" button to submit the message for approval. Messages can also be left blank.
Dashboard Approval Area
The "Approvals" area within the "Dashboard," displays notifications from the message approver. This tab can be used to check whether your messages are approved or rejected.
Re-Submitting a Message for Approval
If a message is altered, it must be resubmitted for approval. In turn, the network operator will need to review and re-approve the updated message. A message can be re-submitted for approval directly after editing a message by clicking the save and submit for approval button.
Message States
When message approval is required, messages will be color coded to indicate whether the message has been approved, rejected, submitted for approval, or not yet submitted for approval. The status's are as follows:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Saved, but not yet submitted. A message was created, but hasn’t been submitted for approval. The message can be scheduled but will not be distributed to the site for playback until it has been submitted and approved. | |
Awaiting Approval. The message has been submitted but is awaiting approval. | |
Approved. The message has been approved for display at the site. With Auto Publish enabled, if the message is already scheduled, it will be distributed to the site. If the message hasn’t yet been schedule, it can be scheduled and distributed to the site right away. With auto publish disabled, the OnSite user will need to re-publish the schedule for the message to be distributed to the site. | |
Rejected. The message was reviewed and rejected by the approver. |
Publishing Approved Messages
Once a message is approved, depending on how the network operator has configured the network, users may need to publish their schedule before it becomes visible on the screen(s). This applies to all messages that are submitted for approval. Publishing the schedule will re-publish all of the currently approved messages to the screen(s). If some messages have not yet been approved, publishing is required after the messages are approved.
Be sure to ask your network operator if publishing is required after message approval.
Message Approver
If your network operator requires message approval before messages are available on the screen(s), a user known as the "Approver" will be assigned. This message approver can review submitted messages, then approve or reject the messages. If the message is approved, it will available for use right away or at a future date. If a message is rejected, the message can be edited and resubmitted for approval. To modify the status of a message waiting for approval, click on the link to the message and proceed.
Once the message name has been clicked, review the message. When reviewing the message, there will be an "Approve Message" button and a "Reject Message" button.
Clicking the approve button will allow the message submitter to schedule the message for their assigned screen. The message submitter will receive a notification in their approvals area indicating that their message was approved.
Clicking the reject button will add a notification to the submitter's approvals area indicating that their message was rejected.
Revoking Approvals/ Submissions
To revoke a message approval after message approval, navigate the message in the "Messages" tab and click the revoke approval button.
Submissions can also be revoked on messages submitted for approval within messages.
