Create a VOD program by first referring to the Creating a Program solution.


  • Drag the VOD widget from the Content tab into the program.
  • Place a Jump to Track command to the beginning of the program. This command is located within the Commands tab.
  • Place a jpg in track 3. There needs to be a jpg placeholder to have the VOD widget commands work properly. It can be any jpg relevant to your programming.



Next, we enter Server Events:  Server events are the commands built into the programming that control VOD playback.


Click the zone's Server Event Icon seen below as a lightning bolt.



  • Click the green plus sign located in the Events window.  
  • Open the Server folder and select Server Event.  Click OK.



  • Click the Command List purple folder.  Click the green plus sign to add commands.
  • Choose the Jump To Track  command in the 'Playback Folder'.
  • Click OK and enter proper Zone Index and Target Track.  The zone should be set to 0 and the Target Track is the track # where the VOD widget is located.  In this example it is seen as track 2.





Next, click the Zone folder and choose the fullscreen command. Click OK.



Edit the fullscreen command details.  Change the zone index to 0 and choose 'Pause All Other Zones' within the exclusivity parameter.  Click OK.



Next, the VOD widget server commands needs to be created, Click the gray gear beside the VOD widget in your program.



Add the Server Event to the Events section like we did for the zone server events prior.  

Add the following commands within the Command List section.  See bulleted list below of where each command is located in the Default Command folder.

  • Pause Zone - located in playback folder
  • Resume Zone - located in playback folder
  • Restore Zone - locatred in zone folder
  • Jump to Track - located in playback folder



Apply the following settings to the commands.


Pause Zone Settings:  Enter the same parameters as seen below. Next, click the edit button seen below on right as a paper and pencil.



Click the plus sign to add an expression.  Enter the settings as seen below in the expression builder.  Click update and OK.



Resume Zone Settings: Enter the same parameters as seen below. Next, click the edit button seen below on right as a paper and pencil.



Click the plus sign to add an expression.  Enter the settings as seen below in the expression builder.  Click update and OK.



Restore Zone Settings:Enter the same parameters as seen below. Next, click the edit button seen below on right as a paper and pencil.



Click the plus sign to add an expression.  Enter the settings as seen below in the expression builder.  Click update and OK.



Jump To Track settings:Enter the same parameters as seen below. Next, click the edit button seen below on right as a paper and pencil.



Click the plus sign to add an expression.  Enter the settings as seen below in the expression builder.  Click update and OK.




Click OK after creating each command.


Publish the program and timetable to begin using VOD.


Note: When testing a VOD program, wait for all content to download to the player.  VOD will not work until all components have been downloaded.
